Beaches are one of the more popular vacation destinations, as so many people want to soak up the sun and be close to the water. You can usually find many cheap vacation packages that will land you on a beach in a tropical climate in any one of several different countries. Once you sort through all the different cheap vacation deals and decide on just the right beach for you, it's time to start planning what to pack. A beach vacation usually requires a whole different mindset when packing your stuff. Sometimes, you'll want to go into town or hit some night life, but a lot of your time will likely be spent right there on the beach, so it's wise to pack accordingly.
It really doesn't matter if you've taken advantage of cheap vacation packages or paid full price, you need certain items for a fun beach vacation. Bathing suits can go on the top of your list. Bring at least two bathing suits, as you'll probably be wearing one and getting it wet on most days. Keeping the same damp bathing on for the whole trip won't be too pleasant. It's also a good idea to bring a mild soap or plan to get one while you're on vacation to wash your bathing suits during the trip. Even though many cheap vacation packages will include towels as part of the service at the resort, you may want to bring larger beach towels for your time on the beach. Bring along two for each person if possible, so dry towels will always be ready.
Sunglasses and sunscreen are two other items you'll want to bring on a beach vacation. Spending time on the beach at a resort means lots of intense sunlight, which means lots of intense sunburns if you aren't protected. Aside from the danger to your skin, the last thing you want is the pain of red, blistering skin when you're trying to have a fun trip. Get sunglasses with 100 percent UV protection to protect your eyes form the rays and the glare off the water. Tossing in a wide-brimmed hat for each person on the trip is another way to protect everyone from the sun. A pair of flip flops or other beach shoes will be ideal for wearing around on the sand if you're in and out of the water a lot. Bring a large beach bag to make it easier to carry all your stuff to and from the beach each day.
For the evenings, bring some regular clothing like shorts, shirts and pants. Throw in a sweater or sweatshirt for the cooler nights, as you may end up on the beach under the moon, as well. You'll also want to bring all your typical toiletries like a toothbrush, hairbrush, toothpaste, hair dryer, deodorant and razors.
If you plan to lounge a lot on the beach, consider bringing along a novel or other reading material you're working on. Your resort should sell magazines and things of that nature. Bring along one or two disposable cameras to capture the view, but keep your digital camera away from the salt air at the beach or it will get wrecked. Packing properly can make any cheap vacation deals at the beach even more enjoyable.
