Oddball Suggestions For Website Designing Concepts

If you are not a website designer you could still arrange your own website hosting and domain name because that process is pretty simple. It is also possible to set up a very simple template website on your own. If you want something really creative and original it would be better to go to a professional website designer.

There are literally millions of websites online but they all seem to follow a pretty standard formula. This of course is restricted by architecture and functionality and even though you can't change this too much you can add elements that are unique. Generally you still need a menu bar even if it is not common row of buttons you see along the side of the top. You don't always need a header at the top and you can generally do more with the footer. Here are some ideas to do things differently.

Make an impact with photography. This might not seem very unusual because most websites make use of photos but if you have a really basic home page then a simple but striking image in the background can have impact. Muted tones or black and white would usually have impact but still not be too distracting. The composition should also not be too busy.

Use non digital artwork. Because this is a form of digital media there can be a tendency towards highly digital images. By scanning and incorporating other art mediums it does create an unusual feel. Make sure the artwork is professional and it can either be used for images or the entire design can take on a hand drawn feel.

Menus can be laid out in creative ways. Rather than just having a row of buttons along the top or down one side the menu can become part of a more intricate design. The buttons can be placed just about anywhere and can subtly be incorporated into imagery or simply be represented by text blends in with the background or stands out boldly. You can very often tell a story with imagery that leads a persons eyes to segments that they would likely be interested in.

Copy a restaurant menus style. This does not have to look like a food menu so much but it does help to thing of creative layouts. You can create linear grids and fill some of them with images and others with short statements or bit of information or links. This sort of style can allow you to get really creative with font usage too.

Don't hide the footer. This can be a very useful place to put more info than people normally do. In stead of just a few links you could have the whole site map where it can be accessed from every page. You could even have a contact section in the same place.

Once this stage is done all that is needed is for it to be uploaded. The webhosting can be part of the whole package or you can arrange it separately. Its not really important if you arrange it before or after though.
