Residential Wind Devices: What Is The Right Amount To Pay?

When you are taking the time to look into residential wind devices, it goes without saying that you want to pay the least amount and get the most benefit. Most people that go down this road are looking to make electricity for their homes and keep from buying that much electricity from the power company.

However, what is the right amount to pay for these devices? Is it true that if you buy a very expensive wind turbine and you're going to get a lot more value than if you buy a cheaper wind turbine?

These are questions that are very hard to answer without a lot of specific data about your particular piece of property. You see, that each individual landowner has a unique wind signature. But, goes even deeper than that. Not only is the wind signature on your property different than that of your neighbors', also, the wind each particular location around your property is little different and requires careful study in order to evaluate and draw conclusions from it.

Furthermore, there are 2 types of wind turbines that you can possibly purchase for your home…

The first kind is called a horizontal axis wind turbine. This is the one that looks like a windmill that you might find in Holland. It is very straightforward and very efficient and will produce a lot of energy for its price. However it doesn't work well in a chaotic wind environment like you might find on a roof. Instead, it is lot better suited for being placed on a tower high up above the trees where the wind is more consistent and strong.

The second type of device called a vertical axis wind turbine. These devices have no tail section and operate very well on roofs for the wind turbulence most of the time. Because the fact they have no tail section, the devices are very inefficient. And, they come at a very high price. Vertical axis when turbines are a lot more expensive than horizontal axis wind turbines.

With all this in mind, you need to consider the price of the home wind turbine device that you might buy. Once you've collected all this data and understand approximately where you're going to locate the wind device, you can assess what the right price is that you need to pay.

Summarizing-there is just no way to say what a residential wind device should cost. That is just too highly contextual and depends on the specific circumstances and how much wind you can actually harvest if you choose to invest a lot of money.
