I would first like to talk about what you should and shouldn't do with your online dating profile. These helpful tips should give you a better idea of how to attract the person you're looking for. The lists that I provide can be used on any dating site, not just the one you are currently a member of. What should be done in your dating profile: - Include all of your interests, specifcally things you find most interesting. - Explain why you like things or goals that you have. - Encourage others members on the site to agree or disagree with you. - Be positive! - Make your profile yours and have fun with it. - Post positive photos: pictures of you doing something interesting and fun. - Send messages to people who visit your profile. Take a look at the section of the website that shows you who has viewed your profile, view theirs and send them a message. - Create a positive perception -- no one wants to read a bland description of another person. Now that I've explained what you should do, here is what you shouldn't do! - Don't leave parts of your profile blank. Fill out everything! - Don't list all the things you want in someone else -- you never know who you'll click with. - Don't mention sadness or depression -- stay positive! - Don't use vulgar language to describe the opposite sex. - Don't make your profile too long, or too short. Try and keep your entire profile less than 600 words. - Lastly, don't just list your favorite activities or interests - talk about them. Describe what happened one day when you did something and even post pictures to show everyone. Let's move on to messaging. Sending a message to the person you like for the first time is very important. You never want to push or put too much pressure on the person you want to date. Doing this only makes you seem desperate. Always stay positive when you send messages to people. When you find someone you like, send a message that talks about similar interests. Try and stay on topic of what is in their profile. When you send your messages, try ending it in a question or some extra information that makes them want to reply. This keeps the conversation going. There are a few things to avoid when messaging the opposite sex (or same sex) when using an online dating site. First, don't keep messaging the person if they seem uninterested. Someone who is uninterested usually gives one line replies, doesn't message you back at all or declines to meet with you. Don't talk off-topic. If it's not in their profile or they're not talking about it at all, don't bring it up. This doesn't necessarily mean don't ask questions or bring up new information to talk about. Lastly, I just wanted to say again that if they don't respond the first time - go ahead and move on.
