One of the most common signs of aging is dark spots on the skin also known as brown spots. For the most part, these unsightly spots are difficult to conceal without a heavy makeup. There are, however some treatments that can help to alleviate these dark spots that age the skin and are unattractive as well.

Due to the fact that dark spots can vary in intensity by the individual, there are a variety of treatments that will be effective for some, but not for others.

Some Easy Ways to Reduce the Occurrence of Dark Spots:

One of the primary reasons for dark spots is exposure to the sun and ultraviolet light rays so it is essential to minimize your exposure with the regular use of sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and other protective measures.

Home Treatments - there are many home remedies that have been used over the years and passed down for generations that are worth a try:

Aloe Vera - This is a known healing treatment that may reduce the dark spots with regular use of application twice a day for at least a month. It should be left on for approximately 45 minutes before washing off.

Milk - The milk contains lactic acid that will help to enhance the skin's texture and lighten the skin so it should be applied directly to the spots and left on for a few minutes before washing off.

Lemon Juice - This is a centuries old cure that can reduce the spots but will take a long time. It should be applied twice a day but should only be used by those with fair skin as it could cause uneven skin tones in others.

Vitamin E - It is a well-known antioxidant that will not only reduce the dark spots but will revitalize the skin. It can be found in many skin cares or supplements as well as egg yolks, sunflower seeds or other foods.

Extrapone Nutgrass - This is an ingredient that is often found in lotions.

Face Whitening creams and Bleachers - These are skin creams that can be found over the counter but use caution as some may contain mercury that can be harmful.

Laser Treatments - This is the expensive option that is usually effective as well as convenient and fast acting. Improvements have made this a pain free option that will usually rid you of the dark spots forever.
