Home Wind Generator: Should I Get One?

By : Roger Brown

This is a question that's on everyone's mind these days - should I get a home wind turbine or other renewable energy device to power at least part of my home? With all the talk about that in the press and about shrinking the domestic energy supplies, we really have no choice.

We all should be worried about where our power will come from in the future. This is not something that we are assured of anymore. We get no guarantee in this country of having our power supplied. Just because we have large central generating stations operating now does not mean that we will in future. When we run out of the current fossil fuels that we used to power these plants now, we don't know exactly what we're going to used to power them after that.

There are several reasons you might want to consider getting a home wind turbine for your house…

The first of course is for the energy savings. And when I say energy savings what I mean is energy cost savings. You are still of course going use the same amount of electricity as you would if you bought from a central utility.

The second reason you may want to consider getting a home wind turbine is for your contribution to sustainability as a whole. We all need to do our part. We cannot just hope that others will take care of this issue for us. In order to create a more sustainable universe for both ourselves and for our children and our children's children, we must be willing to get involved and start to chip away at this problem.

The third reason is you are taking control of your energy future. We certainly don't know what will happen in the Middle East and we don't really have control over the shrinking supplies of oil and coal and what they are specifically used for.

In summary, to get a home wind turbine can be a big cost savings at your house and allow you to take part in the green revolution. Sustainability is an increasingly important topic in today's society and will continue to be so. Therefore, contribute your part in this effort. If you have the ability to make wind at your house, then you need to strongly consider making some of your own power for your electronic devices. It not only cuts down on the amount of carbon that is dispelled into the atmosphere but it also allows you to take advantage of the free energy that surrounds your house and everyone's house every day.
