Many people locate on the roof even though those are not ideal wind conditions, simply because it's easier to do. The other alternative is to locate the wind device on top of a tower. The prime directive when you are installing a device like this to produce power from wind is to put the residential wind turbines as high up as you possibly can. That is because the strongest winds are always above the tree line. The trees and other obstacles tend to diffuse the wind patterns and you no longer have strong consistent winds that you need to make power down lower. In conclusion, residential wind turbines offer tremendous benefits for homeowners, but you need to be careful about where you locate them. Your options are a roof or on a tower in your expenses associated with them will be quite different depending on which you choose.
