Residential wind turbine prices are all over the board. You just cannot say what one of these devices will cost until you have determined what you want it to accomplish in a certain location. These are the things you need to carefully consider to determine the ultimate cost of the wind turbine device you will end up owning... The amount of wind that you can grab - This is a very critical component of this analysis. Many people just don't even deal with this. It is so much easier to assume that the power will be available because you know that wind is blowing on your property. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Everywhere that you might locate a wind turbine has its own individual wind micro signature and the location that you choose will be radically different than one that's 10 or 20 feet away from the one you choose. That is largely due to obstructions like trees and buildings, which tend to diffuse the wind patterns that ordinarily would blow straight and strong above the tree line. The differences in cost are largely due to aesthetics and have a lot to do with the type of wind turbine you by. The horizontal type wind device tends to be cheaper because of this aspect. It also achieves a lot greater efficiency because it has a tail section that will change the position of the turbine to take advantage of the strongest wind at the moment. Where you want to locate the wind turbine kit - Whether you get a horizontal wind system has a lot to do with the cost that you will eventually play. If you are purchasing a horizontal system for example, you're probably going to put it on top of a tower and any cost advantages that you have initially will be offset by the cost of the tower itself. However, if you're looking into the roof as your ultimate location for your wind turbine, then you will likely install a vertical style device that has no tail. The fact that it can be located on the roof without any tower is an advantage for them, but these devices have to be very aesthetically pleasing in order to comply with local ordinances. In conclusion, the residential wind turbine can cost you a lot or cost you a little. It all depends on your situation and the only way to get down to those details is to dive in and get your feet wet with the data.
