The alternatives are building this type of system from a set of plans or, going directly to the dealer and letting them do the whole process for you. If you go with the dealer, you are going to pay a lot more. The advantage of going with the dealer however is that you don't have to do any of the work yourself. Going with the dealer they will do all of the analysis and the selection of a specific product that you need. This of course comes at a price. The dealer supplied wind turbine can be as much as $30,000-$40,000, whereas a wind turbine kit that will supply the same amount of power might be under $5,000. In conclusion, the two biggest advantages of the wind turbine kit over other ways that you can get a wind turbine up and running on the fact that they don't require the time that the true do-it-yourself, build from a set of plans route will require. Furthermore, using old wind turbine kit is better than buying something strictly off the shelf from a dealer in that it will be much much cheaper.
