Wind turbine prices are all over the map. Because of the varieties of wind turbines out there on the market today and the variability among different types of materials and qualities of production, the prices are very difficult to interpret. Because of the worldwide shift from being a fossil fuel driven economy to being focused on renewable sources of energy, a lot more players have gotten into this market. Not all of them are reputable, and there can be very little difference between a low-quality product and a high-quality product - the prices can be the same. These are the key ways in which wind turbine prices differ… Whether the turbine is a horizontal axis wind turbine or vertical axis wind turbine -This makes a tremendous difference. The horizontal axis wind turbine is much more efficient than the vertical axes first of all. Secondly the horizontal axis wind turbine is going to work best on a tower high above the tree line where it can achieve the strongest winds and therefore orient in the direction of the strongest wind. With a vertical axis wind turbine you are mostly relegated to operating within a chaotic wind environment on a roof. While they are also put on towers, that is a lot more common to find one on a roof because they have no tail section and therefore don't constantly shift between one direction or another. Whether the blade materials are composite or made out of wood- The composition of the blades makes a big difference in wind turbine price is. The more we are shifting to composites from natural materials as a society, the more prices are dependent on the materials composition. Whether the device is mounted on a tower or directly to your roof- Towers can add tremendous costs to the price of a new home wind turbine. The tower can as much as double the cost initially for any wind turbine that you buy. Of course they will allow you to get the most power out your device but it comes at a very high cost. If you can avoid having to install a tower, you will likely avoid the hassles of having to deal with neighbors who don't like the unsightly nature of the wind turbine placed there as well as you will avoid the added costs. In any case, wind turbine prices have a lot of variability. It is up to you as the consumer to sort out what you really need and then match that with the product that is available on the market today. There is no substituting taking your time on the front end and assessing what your wind conditions are before you begin looking though.
